London - England captain John Terry is set to discover on Wednesday if he will face criminal charges over allegations he racially abused Anton Ferdinand.

The Chelsea centre back has denied racially abusing the Queens Park Rangers defender during an English Premier League match on October 23.

A spokesperson for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said a decision on whether they would press charges would be announced on Wednesday.

Terry, soon after the allegation surfaced, issued a statement saying: "I've seen that there's a lot of comments on the internet with regards to some video footage of me during the game.

"I'm disappointed that people have leapt to the wrong conclusions about the context of what I was seen to be saying to Anton Ferdinand.

"I would never say such a thing, and I'm saddened that people would think so," he added.

The CPS announcement regarding Terry came a day after England's Football Association banned Liverpool and Uruguay striker Luis Suarez for eight games for racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra during a league match in October.

How can he deny he said it when the footage clearly shows him saying it? Whatever the context may be, it's still unacceptable. John Terry should be banned from all football. Infidelity, Racism, what's next, robbery and murder? He's definitely the ideal role model...

the black dude knows he's black - why is it when whites say something it is racist when blacks do it its empowerment?

To nadine, it's all about context and for you to make a comment like that is obvious that you have never experienced racism in your life. If anything is said in a negative context about a group of people whether true or not doesn't matter because you are contributing to hate speech. If I don't like you then I will say something negative about you, but as soon as I generalise to a group then its a big no no. So take that in mind next time.

we see it on tv often but can't tell what he said. what did he say Adrian? maybe he was saying how is your mother buddy

      Adrian - 2011-12-21 16:52

Nadine, did you see the footage? He didn't only say that he's black. He called him a black c**t, which is extremely derogatory!
