Gerrard and Carraghers, teammates for over a decade at Anfield, starred in fun press conference to pick the teams for the match with lots of friendly banter between the pair.

Not involved in international duty, Chelsea legend John Terry, will star for Stevie G's side which also includes Xabi Alonso and an incredible potent three-pronged attack spearheaded by Arsenal and Barcelona great, Thierry Henry - who will play alongside Luis Suárez and Fernando Torres.

Carragher's side will see Didier Drogba lead the line with a host of former Liverpool legends alongside the Ivorian. Current English Premiership players - Martin Kelly and Jonjo Shelvey - have also signed up for the match which will also see the return of goalkeeper Pepe Reina and Spanish defender, Alvaro Arbeloa, to Anfield.

Gerrard said that further "big names" may be added to the teams, as well as some talented youngsters from the Liverpool academy.

Liverpool All-Star match teams:
