Taarabt is in line to start for Queens Park Rangers in their clash against
Aston Villa on Monday night despite overweight claims by boss Harry Redknapp.
Rednapp recently criticised the Moroccan for being at least “three stone overweight” and was left out of the squad that ultimately lost 3-2 at home to Liverpool last weekend.
The player ignored Redknapp’s invitation to speak with him on Monday and then sat down with Sportsmail to refute the claims, insisting he is “fully fit” despite an ankle injury disrupting his pre-season schedule.
According to the Daily Mail, Taarabt may have sweet talked his way back into the QPR team after his clash with the gaffer, as the 25-year-old returned to the first-team squad for training on Wednesday.
QPR chairman Tony Fernandes stepped in on Tuesday in an effort to defuse the row and claimed the public spat was "an embarrassment" to the club. Reports suggest Fernandes has decided against disciplinary action, but may have had a hand in handing Taarabt a position back in the first-team squad.
