Cape Town - After slumping to their fifth Premier League loss of
the season to Chelsea on Saturday, Liverpool are desperately looking for
something to inspire them back into form.
According to the Mirror, midfielder Raheem Sterling believes the return of Daniel Sturridge may be the inspiration they are looking for, and believes he will help revive Liverpool’s season.
“It will be a massive boost to have Daniel back playing,” Sterling told the Liverpool Echo.
“We have missed him and the more quality players you have fit and available the better.
“He gives us that threat in the box and he scores goals. We’re all really looking forward to having him back in the team.
“After a defeat you usually want the next game to come along fast but I think having this break now can help us.
“We need to get going after the international break and start winning games to turn this around.
“Losing hurts, especially losing a big game at home. Every team goes through sticky patches but I’m sure we’ll start climbing the table soon.”
Sturridge has missed the past 14 matches for the Reds due to thigh and calf injuries but the prolific striker should be fit for the trip to Crystal Palace after the international break.
