Spurs to lose out on Ukraine ace?

Cape Town - Atletico Madrid are reportedly in pole position to sign Ukraine star Yevhen Konoplyanka from under the noses of Premier League club, Tottenham Hotspur.

The Express report that Tottenham Hotspur are set to lose out on the signing of Dnipro's Yevhen Konoplyanka.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino was  reportedly interested in bringing Konoplyanka to England, with Brazilian midfielder Paulinho expected to depart the club shortly.

Spanish daily AS conflict earlier reports that suggest Spurs had won the race to sign the winger, with some media outlets even suggesting a medical at White Hart Lane had been completed.

AS believe Atletico Madrid have beaten Spurs to the signature of Konoplyanka, who is in Spain to seal a move to the 2013/14 La Liga champions.

The 25-year-old star will become a free agent later this week when his con contract with Dnipro expires.

Sevilla and Liverpool have previously been credited an interest in the player who has 10 goals in 45 appearances for the national team.
