Southampton confirm Clasie deal

Southampton - Southampton has signed Jordy Clasie from Feyenoord, helping to fill the void left by midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin joining Manchester United.

Clasie, who captained the Dutch club, has moved to the Premier League in a transfer that could cost the south-coast club up to a reported €12 million.

After signing a five-year deal, Clasie said "it's a big club playing in what I think is the biggest and most important league."

The Dutchman knows Southampton manager Ronald Koeman well from his time coaching Feyenoord, where the midfielder made 129 appearances after coming through the youth set-up.

The midfielder has played 11 times for the Netherlands.
