Smalling headache for United

Cape Town - Louis van Gaal is sweating over the fitness of centre back Chris Smalling ahead of Manchester United's fixture against West Ham on Saturday.

The Daily Mail report that Chris Smalling may be in doubt for the clash against West Ham.

Speculation in Manchester is that England international Chris Smalling was injured during a training session ahead of the English Premiership match against West Ham.

Smalling was due to partner Marcos Rojo in a new centre back pairing but reports suggest the player may have injured his thigh at United's Carrington training base.

Van Gaal is already without Phil Jones, Jonny Evans and Tyler Blackett for the match.
Smalling had just returned to full fitness following a groin injury with Manchester United now sweating that he overcomes this latest injury setback in time to take his place in the starting lineup against the visiting Hammers.

Manchester United are looking to get their season back on track when West Ham United visit Old Trafford on Saturday, September 27, The match kicks off at 16:00.
