Cape Town - Martin Skrtel has shed light on conflicting reports that suggested the Slovakian defender had agreed terms with Liverpool over a contract renewal.
The original reports, subsequently picked up by several British publications, said the player had agreed to stay at the Reds via his Facebook page but Sports Witnessnow report that the Liverpool defender has distanced himself with the Facebook account. t
"I have my own Facebook profile which I use to communicate with fans, and it's managed via Stars and Friends (Skrtel's agents). I strongly distance myself from the profile on which the information was made public... I don't even know who the admin is." Skrtel told a Slovakian newspaper.
Skrtel's agent then confirmed that negoitations with Liverpool are ongoing but no deal has been reached.
The 30-year-old defender joined Liverpool in 2008 in a £6.5 million move from Zenit Saint Petersburg.
