Reina's wage demands stalls Italy move

Cape Town - Liverpool's out of favour goalkeeper Pepe Reina's exorbitant wage demands may scupper his chance of a permanent move to Italy.

The Independent report that the Spanish player is demanding £100,000-a-week and that both Napoli and AC Milan are unable to meet his demands.

After failing out of favour at Anfield, Reina spent the season on loan with Napoli under former boss Rafael Benitez.

Reina is unhappy with the treatment he has received from the management at Liverpool and is asking that his contract be ended by mutual consent despite having two years left to run.

Reina, who is talking to both AC Milan and Napoli, could see himself in the wilderness after both Italian clubs refused to meet his wage demands.

AC Milan want the player on loan as they seek to balance their books ahead of the new season while Benitez remains hopeful that he close relationship with the player will see Reina reach an agreement with Napoli.

Reina spent eight seasons as the Liverpool number one until Brendan Rodgers signed Simon Mignolet.
