Reid extends Hammers contract

London - West Ham United's New Zealand international defender Winston Reid has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2015, the Premier League side announced on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old has played in 33 of West Ham's 35 league games to date this season, forming an impressive partnership with Welshman James Collins at centre-back.

"I've really enjoyed being here," Reid told the club's official website.

"I think I have played some good football over the last two years, but that goes for the whole team as well. Hopefully we can continue that."

Reid joined West Ham from Danish club FC Midtjylland in 2010 and was a key member of the side that secured promotion from the second-tier Championship last season.

His new deal takes him up to West Ham's penultimate season at Upton Park, and he says he hopes to still be at the club when they move to London's Olympic Stadium in time for the 2016-17 campaign.

"It is an exciting time for the club," he said. "Even though it is three years down the road, they are already looking forward to seeing what can be done when we move there."
