Reds confirm no offers for Agger

Cape Town - Liverpool central-defender Daniel Agger has been linked with a move away from Anfield during this summer's transfer window.

Speculation suggests that the Danish defender is desperate to leave the Reds and has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona. With Arsenal having offloaded Thomas Vermaelen, reports also suggest that both Arsenal, as well as Tottenham, have joined the race to land Agger.

Liverpool, though, maintain that there is nothing to report. According to Sky Sports, the Merseyside club have received no offers for the Dane and he is still very much a part of their plans as he works his way back to full fitness.

"I've seen some stories on that but, no, we haven't had any enquiries", Brendan Rodgers said.

"Dan's still getting some work done on his knee, he's been a bit unfortunate since America. He's still getting treatment but we haven't had anything, no offers."

Rodgers has praised his side after their impressive 4-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund at Anfield yesterday and insists Liverpool have what it takes to be title contenders once again this season.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
