Redknapp: I blame Rodgers

Cape Town - Former Liverpool defender Jamie Redknapp has criticised Brendan Rodgers for his decision to bring Mario Balotelli

Redknapp, now working as a football pundit, did not mince his words when asked to wade in on the Maro Balotelli situation developing at Liverpool.

Balotelli was substituted at half time after a lethargic display in one of Liverpool's most eagerly anticipated matches of the season.

The Italian striker was also well below par against QPR on Sunday but Redknapp believes the blame for the saga should lay on the shoulders of the Reds' manager.

"I don't blame Mario Balotelli, I blame Brendan Rodgers for bringing him here. How he thought he could turn around a player who Mourinho, Mancini and Prandelli have all washed their hands of."

"There’s a reason when you go to the supermarket and something is half price.

"Why on earth they went for him I’ll never know. They should’ve just left him alone. The fact that they went and got him, it just doesn’t make any sense to me."

Jamie Redknapp had a full go at Brendan Rodgers last night:
