Cape Town - Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech, who has fallen out of favour
at Stamford after the arrival of Thibaut Courtois, is a target of Real Madrid
as the Spanish club look to replace out-of-form keeper Iker Casillas.
According to the Telegraph, Casillas, who won his place back in Real’s starting eleven, has been in poor form for both club and country lately and the club are looking to replace him come the January transfer window.
Manchester United’s David de Gea has also been linked to Real, but Bernabéu chiefs are aware that Cech may be a much easier target as the Czech international has recently expressed his discontent at being benched for the Blues.
“I have not spoken to anyone, but I think they know me well enough at the club to know that the situation is definitely not the way I would imagine,” Cech said.
“With the Euros [in 2016] and the national team in mind, there is no time for me to sit on the bench and not to play. If the situation will not start to improve for me, then I will want to solve it.”
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti knows Cech well from his two seasons in charge at Stamford Bridge. While his preference would be to win his Chelsea place back, Cech is thought to be interested in the prospect of moving to Spain.
