Cape Town - Real Madrid have rejected a bid by Manchester United for defender Sergio Ramos, according to reports.
The Daily Mail reports that Manchester United's £35 million bid was turned away by the La Liga club.
Ramos is understood to be unhappy after being poorly treated by the club and is willing to quit the club amidst interest from the Red Devils.
Manchester United are willing to increase Ramos' £4m-a-year wages to around £7.8m to tempt the Spanish international into a move this summer.
The 29-year-old defender signed for Los Blancos as a teenager from Sevilla and has become a club legend.
In 10 seasons at Madrid, Ramos has won 10 trophies and represented the team on 455 occasions.
Ramos has 128 caps for Spain.
