Real Madrid eye Liverpool youngster

Cape Town - Liverpool are reportedly set to quadruple Raheem Sterling's weekly earnings in a bid to keep him at Anfield.

According to the Mirror, Real Madrid have their eye on the young Englishman and after his impressive form and performance for the Reds last season the Spanish club is keen to make a move for the 19-year-old.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, who has already seen star striker Luis Suarez leave for rival Spanish outfit Barcelona, is desperate to keep Real at bay. He's even set to quadruple sterling's £30,000-a-week deal to keep him at the club.

Rodgers believes Sterling is a huge asset to his side and that he will only improve and mature with time.

“This kid is only going to get better. He’s way above the level from when he first came in. Tactically, technically, and what has been beautiful to watch with Raheem has been his maturity", the Reds boss said.

“He’s turning into a beautiful young man, with all the responsibility. He’s still only 19, but in big games he’s performed and he’s a wonderful talent.”
