Cape Town - Dutch striker, Robin van Persie, made his long awaited return from his ankle injury on Monday night as he played in Manchester United Under-21s' 1-1 draw at Leicester City.

According to the Manchester United website, Van Persie played for just over an hour in the club's Under-21 side fixture.

Louis van Gaal will have received mixed news on the game with Van Persie and Jonny Evans started their first fixture after lengthy spells on the sidelines but two young first team players were dealt injury blows.
