Cape Town - Manchester United are set to sign Spanish international forward Pedro, according to widespread reports in the British media.
The Express report that Manchester United will beat Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal to the signature of Barcelona's wantaway forward Pedro.
The Spanish international will cost the Premier League outfit just £22 million after the player managed to negotiate a lower release clause earlier in the summer.
The Red Devils face Pedro's current club on Saturday in their pre-season tour of North America and despite the Catalan giants being unwilling to allow the 27-year-old star to leave, Pedro it seems will quit the La Liga champions this summer.
Pedro has fallen down the pecking order at Barcelona since the arrival of Luis Suarez from Liverpool last summer and has grown frustrated with his bit part role at the club.
Comments from teammate SergiO Busquets have seemed to indicate that Pedro
“I would want him to stay, I would love him to stay." Busquets told the Guardian.
"He is a friend of mine and it will be his final decision. He wants to play more and get more minutes. That’s what he wants."
It is reported that Pedro's versatility - he can play through the middle or out wide - has made him a top target for manager Louis van Gaal.
Pedro's signature would be a major coup to any club as he comes with proven title quality.
The Barcelona forward has won five La Ligas, three Copa del Reys and three Champions Leagues during his 10 years with the Spanish giants.
