Ozil not leaving Arsenal

Cape Town - Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has dismissed speculation linking German international star Mesut Ozil.

The Gunners manager also addeed this will be a 'big season' for the World Cup-winning playmaker, reports the club's website.

Newspaper reports over the weekend had suggested Juventus were lining up a bid for Ozil, but the boss laughed off the story upon landing in Singapore on Monday.

"Ozil is our player, he will remain our player, and he wants to remain our player," the manager stated.

"During this period the newspapers are creative, and have to be creative, but many times the stories come from agents.

"It's a big season for him because he had a difficult start last year and in the second half of the season he was very important."

Ozil scored five times and added nine assists in 32 appearances last term, and has become an instrumental part of the side. But Wenger is optimistic he can scale further heights this season.

"There are many offensive players who have an important season in front of them this year, but I'm confident, because I think they have the quality," the manager said ahead of the Barclays Asia Trophy.

"He has improved his defensive attitude, he works hard and offensively he is a top-class player."
