Cape Town - Manchester City has confirmed that Valencia defender Nicolas Otamendi has joined the English giants on a five-year deal.
The Argentine international is the third signing of the summer for the 2013/14 Premier League champions joining Raheem Sterling and Fabian Delph as new recruits at the Etihad Stadium.
Otamendi leaves Valencia after being named in the La Liga 2014/15 Team of the Season in a deal which cost a reported €45 million.
“I am here to give my best, to fight game by game and push City to the highest peaks for as long as possible, and I wish we will be able to win several cups and titles." Otamendi told the club's website.
"That’s the most important. To be here inside a club that looks so wonderful from the outside is a dream.”
The 27-year old centre-back joins fellow Argentina stars Sergio Aguero, Martin Demichelis and Pablo Zabaleta in Manchester, all of whom were members of the Argentina side that reached the Copa America final, losing on penalties to Chile.
Otamendi has been handed the no.30 shirt.
