Neville slams chasing pack

Cape Town - Gary Neville insists the Premier League contenders should be the ones criticised and not the champions-elect, Chelsea.

Chelsea, unbeaten since the turn of the year, have been slammed for adopting defensive or negative tactics but the former Manchester United defender says Chelsea deserve praise for the way in which they have conducted themselves this season.

"I don't get it at all," Neville said on his Sky Sports' Gary Neville Podcast.

"If we're criticising anybody it should be the pathetic attempt at chasing them this season and putting up a fight.

"I have to say Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have got to do so much better next season. The last team that we should be criticising are Chelsea. They are the ones that have gone on and done the job.

"They have extended their lead tonight, they are by far in front and they have been by far the best team this season. They haven't lost a game since New Year's Day.

"It's the other teams that should really be criticised. This Chelsea team have done everything you ask of what will be the champion team."

Chelsea will win the league on Sunday if they beat Crystal Palace.

The match at Stamford Bridge kicks off at 14:30.
