Mata set for United exit?

Cape Town - Former Manchester United player Gary Neville has hinted that the club could sell Juan Mata during the winter transfer window.

According to the Metro, Mata, who started United's 5-3 defeat to Leicester City on the bench on Sunday, is believed to be a target of Italian champions Juventus, and could very well make the move abroad when the transfer window opens again early next year.

With Wayne Rooney now being preferred in an advanced midfield role with Falcao and Van Persie up front, Mata's future at the club seems uncertain.

"He has done well, Mata, when he has played in central areas and his goalscoring record is good," Neville said.

"But I always wondered whether he has a long-term future at United".

"When I watch him at Old Trafford, he isn’t dynamic enough and with Angel Di Maria in the team, they have to get Radamel Falcao in".

Manager Louis van Gaal has been forced to make radical changes to both the team and formation in an effort to improve on last season's dismal display. Only time will tell whether or not there is still a spot left in that team for Mata.
