Cape Town - Monaco's teenage forward Anthony Martial  is expected to join Manchester United on Monday after the French Football Federation confirmed he was travelling to Manchester to sign a contract.

Martial scored nine goals in 35 Ligue 1 appearances last season.

Martial cost £3.6 million when Monaco joined from from Lyon in 2013 and is tipped to cost the Red Devils a fee in the region of £36 million.

Martial has played at all youth levels for France.

The 19-year-old forward earned his first senior France call up on the weekend for the matches against Portugal (away in Lisbon) and at home to Serbia.

French Football Federation statement:

Anthony Martial was presented Monday at 11:00 at the gathering of the France team at Clairefontaine. He requested from Didier Deschamps permission to travel to England to sign a contract with Manchester United.

Given the exceptional circumstances, the coach has acceded to the request of the player.

Anthony Martial left Clairefontaine Monday at 12:00. He will return on Tuesday morning.
