Cape Town - This season's English Premiership runners-up, Liverpool, have made a bid for Southampton captain Adam Lallana.
According to the BBC website, midfielder Lallana, 26, has been a key member of the Saints side this season, scoring 10 goals in 42 appearances and earning three England caps.
Southampton finished in eighth spot in the standings this season.
Liverpool fell agonisingly short of what would've been their first English Premiership title since 1989/90 when they fell two points short of rival Manchester City in the race for glory in England.
Lallana's Saints team-mate Luke Shaw is also being linked with a move away from St Mary's with Manchester United reported to have made a £27m bid for the left-back.
Lallana is expected to be named in England's 2014 Soccer World Cup squad to be named later on Monday (15:00 SA time).
