LVG desperate to land Di Maria

Cape Town - After suffering an embarrassing home defeat to Swansea City, Louis van Gaal has set his sights on signing Argentine Angel Di Maria before the transfer window closes.

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are set to offer Real Madrid £50 million for the Argentine forward.

Without the prospects of Champions League football to offer Di Maria, United will tempt the star player with a £200 000 wage offer.

Van Gaal wants Manchester United to invest £100 million in Di Maria over a five year period, £50 million in transfer fees and the same amount in wages over five years.

Di Maria, now entering his fifth season with Madrid, was heavily linked with a move to PSG which ended in failure for the French giants after deeming the deal too expensive.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has repeatedly stated that Di Maria will not be sold in the summer but with Los Blancos keen on adding Falcao to their "Galacticos" lineup, Di Maria may yet find himself playing in the English Premiership this season.

The tricky forward has scored 36 goals in 189 appearances for Real Madrid.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
