Commentary by Sport24 freelancer, Carlo Petersen

19:00 - That's it folks! Some fabulous footy all round today. Have a good one!

18:57 - So Spurs' spending spree (Lamela: £30mil, Soldado: £26mil, Paulinho: £17mil, Capoue: £9mil) proved futile today and Wenger will no doubt be pleased as he walks away victorious again without spending the big bucks.

18:54 - That was a frantic last last few minutes and Spurs were unlucky not to score. Arsenal deserved winners though. They do look very dangerous in attack and the defence stood their ground well enough today too.

18:52 - The Gunners have done it! The take the three points from the derby as the crowd roars in delight. Well done to Arsenal.

18:51 - Spurs going for it now as the clock ticks away. Arsenal on the verge of victory.

18:48 - Kieran Gibbs is grabbing his thigh in pain. There's no left-back to bring on as the left-back has already replaced a midfielder. Arsenal also do not have many midfielders on their bench. There will be five extra minutes.

18:43 - PICTURE:

Going in hard: Laurent Koscielny of Arsenal and Paulinho get stuck-in at Emirates Stadium.

18:38 - Nacho Monreal comes on for Rosicky, who had an effective game in midfield today.

18:36 - Walcott comes close for Arsenal now, but he could have done better with that effort. A real striker finishes those. Then again Theo is not a real striker, is he?

18:32 - Szczesny to the rescue for the Gunners after Spurs come attacking with Defoe. Soldado then gets another chance but his shot is blocked then Walker also gets in on the action - his shot is just wide and the Gunners breathe again.

18:30 - Defoe comes on for Dembele as Spurs replace a midfielder with a striker with twenty minutes to go. Will the tactic pay-off for Villas Boas?

18:26 - Lloris gets his timing perfect as he snatches the ball from Walcott, who was coming in at goal running at full-speed. The keeper is talented, no doubt about that.

18:24 - Dembele and Paulinho are linking well for Tottenham. Defoe is warming up for Spurs, but Villas Boas has not made any subs yet.

18:19 - Giroud does well to get a shot on target. Looked to get a deflection there and the resulting corner comes to nothing for the Gunners. Nice fluid pacey attacking play from Arsenal. This is the kind of football we've become accustomed when watching Wenger's men in action. They look so dangerous on the break.

18:16 - Flamini goes into the book after a rash tackle on Danny Rose, who cut inside from the left. Flamini went airborne there - scary stuff!

Top class: Giroud's goal for Arsenal in the first-half. (@premierleague on Twitter)

18:08 - Ramsey takes a shot from 25 yards but his effort is well wide.

18:05 - Both teams look keen for the second-half. Determined runs and feverish tackles happening in midfield. Good game of footy, I'd say.

18:02 - Second-half has started after an energetic, fairly balanced game so far.

17:54 - Olivier Giroud's third league goal of the season separates the north London rivals at the interval.

17:47 - PICTURE:

Pacey: Townsend takes on Wilshere during the first-half. Spurs have been dangerous attacking from the wings despite being a goal down.

17:47 - It's half-time at the Emirates. Arsenal go into the tunnel one nil up.

17:39 - With ten minutes to half-time, Arsenal have had 7 shots on goal while Spurs have had 3. The hosts lead 1-0 in an exciting first-half of play.

17:37 - Some controversy there as Lloris challenged Walcott outside the area after the winger raced through, but after viewing the replay it is clear he played the ball. Rosicky was booked after that for some strange reason.

17:32 - Ramsey gets past Danny Rose and manages to pass to Walcott, who shoots from close range but there's not enough power to make it count.

17:30 - PICTURE:

Get in! An Arsenal fan celebrates after Giroud scores to put his side ahead.

17:23 - Excellent goal from Arsenal after Walcott squares for Giroud, who does really well to get it in with the outside of his left from a tight angle. That's class from the Frenchman.

17:22 - GOAL!!!

Both of our full backs need help, especially Jenkinson! - @IanWright0

17:14 - Spurs on the attack again. Capoue dribbles around two Arsenal players then plays a one-two with Dembele in the centre circle. Arsenal win the ball back and Giroud looks to get to the left byline, Dawson slides in and the ball goes out for a goal kick.

17:13 - Soldado gets a chance just outside the six-yard box. His shot is blocked by a defender though.

17:12 - Rose and Chadli then work an opening down the left, but Rose's low cross is cleared.

17:09 - Spurs are looking lively down the wings. Townsend runs the ball out of play as he tries to dribble past Gibbs.

17:05 - The Gunners with another free-kick after Dembele fouls Walcott. Cazorla hits this one just wide to the left after rolling the ball speedily under the jumping wall - good skill that.

17:02 - Rosicky is brought down by Capoue on the edge of the area on the left. The free-kick from Santi Cazorla curls to the near post and is saved by Lloris.

17:00 - The north-London derby is underway at Emirates Stadium. Spurs attack early with the first corner of the match. Arsenal clear safely and get their attack going.
