HALF TIME AT ANFIELD
Manchester United lead Liverpool 1 - 0.
They are full value for their lead, but Liverpool after struggling for the first 30 minutes did have a very strong period in which Lallana had an excellent chance and probably should have score, but sent his shot wide of the target.
FULL-TIME: LIVERPOOL 1-2 MANCHESTER UNITED
Blind is fouled by Can inside the Liverpool box and United have a penalty. Rooney takes the spot kick but Mignolet pulls off a fantastic save to deny him
The crowd try to urge on Liverpool but United are managing the game way and playing an extended period of keep-ball
There will be four minutes of added time
Liverpool continue to try to increase the pressure but there are some tired legs out there now. A ball into the box is aimed towards Balotelli but grabbed by De Gea
United are content to slow the game down and try to see things out until full-time
Liverpool are mounting late pressure on United - can they find a second in the closing minutes?
Herrera is replaced by Falcao for United
Balotelli isn't happy with Smalling as he goes to ground near the advertising boards. He tries to grab Smalling's leg and the two get a telling off from the referee
United are trying to control the game and slow down any Liverpool momentum with their own long periods of possession
Liverpool have a free kick 25 yards out that Balotelli wastes by striking against the United defensive wall
Sturridge runs into the box after winning the ball off Di Maria. He tries a side-pass to Balotelli in space, but the Italian just cannot taken the ball in his stride
That could is a valuable lifeline to Liverpool. The Anfield crowd are well behind their side and urging them on now

Liverpool have calmed things down and things have finally settled. They have some decent possession in the United half but cannot make anything of it
Herrera has also been shown a yellow card
Gerrard is shown a red card within a minute of coming on. He lost the ball to Herrera and did appear to stamp on the United man - it is unbelievable scenes
Liverpool get the second half underway. They have made a change and Lallana has been replaced by Gerrard

United have done better for the last few minutes and halted the Liverpool charge
Liverpool are finally playing with some urgency as we approach half-time. United will be happy to hold on until half-time with this advantage
United look shaken by this change in the momentum of the game. This is by far Liverpool's best period of the match so far
The noise levels are up around Anfield after that chance. Henderson almost spring Lallana free but De Gea is out to hoof the ball clear
Lallana is set up by Sturridge just inside the box, but puts his effort only narrowly wide of the target
Everything appears to be going for plan for United so far. They are dominant, looking comfortable and have got the only goal
Moreno swings a ball in from the left flank that Henderson cannot meet in the middle and De Gea can grab it under zero pressure
It is a better period for Liverpool as they enjoy a decent period of possession around the United box. Sterling tries to dribble into the area but is hounded out by three defenders
Liverpool are struggling to really make much of an impact out there. United's dominance of the ball are forcing them really deep
Sterling tries to send Sturridge clear but De Gea is quick to come out of his box and beat the Liverpool man to the ball
Lallana is clattered by Jones and requires treatment - but it looks like he will be OK to continue
Liverpool are still to really get anything going. Sturridge is almost in after Valencia slips, but Young does well to come back and dig his team-mate out of trouble

Henderson lofts the ball forward towards Sturridge and he hits it first time on the volley from a tight angle. The effort flies well wide of the target
It has been a fantastic start to the game by United as they have prevented Liverpool from really having a kick of the ball. The home side need to settle down and try to start building some momentum
GOAL. Liverpool 0-1 Manchester United, Mata is sent clear by Herrara and he beats Mignolet with a well-struck angled shot from inside the box
Fellaini heads down a ball forward for United into the path of Mata, who just cannot get on the end of it inside the Liverpool box
United have a chance to get the ball into the Liverpool box from a free-kick, but Mata's cross is too short and the hosts can clear
Carrick tries to find Mata with a diagonal ball, but it is too close to Mignolet and the keeper grabs it with ease
The first bit of play from Liverpool sees Lallana play Sterling into the box down the left channel. Jones does well to make a block for United
United have made a decent start, seeing most of the possession and having one early corner
