Comeback kid: Man of the match, Romelu Lukaku scores Everton's equaliser to make it 2-2 at Goodison Park. (Pic: Twitter)

16:38 - Full-time at Goodison and what a cracker of a game! Thrilling stuff! The match is drawn at 3-3. Extraordinary stuff! Well played Merseysiders, the match-up has lived up to its reputation and the display from both sides bids well for future encounters. Thanks muchly!

16:37 - Sturridge finds the net again for Liverpool... but he is blatantly offside! No goal.

16:34 - What a game! Sturridge finds the net to help the Reds claw their way back into this one. The equaliser coming after another peach of a Gerrard set-piece. The free-kick was sent whipping across goal from the right for Sturridge to head in a beauty past a furious Tim Howard.

16:33 - Sturridge doing the business for Liverpool!

16:33 - GOOOOAAAALL!!

16:31 - The big man climbed high to reach the corner from the right as Johnson struggled to cover his shadow, and crashes the header over a hapless Sturridge, who's stationed on the line. That's the perfect number nine's goal.

16:28 - A solid header there from the Belgian international to put the Toffees in the lead. Well-deserved as they have been making all the plays as this second-half draws to a close.

16:26 - Oh my hat!! Everton take the lead through Lukaku!

16:26 - GOOOOOAAAAALLLLL!!!!!

16:26 - Everton are turning on the pressure now! Two more chances go begging, but wait.....

16:22 - Everton broke away in a counter-attack there, four attackers on three Reds men, but Lukaku fluffed the final ball horribly. That pass could have been done better by an under-9 player. Eish!

16:20 - Sturridge is still warming up for the Reds, but to be honest I'm not sure how much we can read into that because he's been warming up all game. It seems Rodgers just likes to keep his players warm.

16:18 - The ocean of blue surrounding the players has erupted into chorus now! Fifteen minutes left. It's crunch time!

16:16 - Lukaku finally manages to find the goal after some good interplay around the area from Everton. The striker put that one past Mignolet with the side of his boot to make sure it found the bottom corner. Good goal!

16:15 - GOOOOAAL!!!!

16:15 - Joe Allen comes off for Victor Moses. Henderson shuffles infield.

16:11 - Lucas is the next name to be put in Dowd's book. The list gets longer still... The Brazilian did show very little intent to win the ball with that challenge on Pienaar though.

16:10 -  Allen has been cautioned for a foul on Mirallas, who outwitted the Red with his quick feet. Dowd handing these cards out freely now.

16:08 - Lukaku manages to find space on the left and cuts in behind Liverpool's defence. He can't find the back of the net though and the chance goes begging.

16:07 - Henderson is bleeding after a clash with Mirallas, who seems intent on being handed that second yellow card. Dowd's leniency being tested.

16:03 - Liverpool's turn to waste goals now. Allen with a shocking miss after Suarez manages to somehow scrap the ball through Everton's defence. Clear-cut chance on goal, just had the goalie to beat, but his side-footed attempt found the side-netting. Shameful stuff, really!

15:58 - Deulofeu gets clear on goal for Everton, but fails to make the chance count after Mignolet put his body on the line to fluff that attempt on goal. The substitute should have done there. He knows it as he hangs his head in shame. Everton should have been level.

15:57 - Gerard Deulofeu is on for Leighton Baines, who has suffered a toe injury after Henderson apparently landed on it in the first-half.

15:53 - Suarez and Mirallas get tangled up in one another once again. Suarez brings down the Bulgian quite harshly on the line, but is left holding his head in agony after Mirallas seems to put his boot on it. Seems an ongoing battle this one!

15:52 - The second-half is underway at Goodison Park. Baines is still limping and may soon be substituted.

15:35 - It's half-time at Goodison Park and the players leave the field after a very exciting first-half, which saw three goals in the space of twenty minutes. Let's hope the second-half has more in store!

15:32 - PICTURE:

Goal machine: Luiz Suarez celebrates his goal after scoring a sensational free-kick for Liverpool at Goodison Park. (Pic: Twitter)

15:29 - Leighton Baines is hobbling around after sustaining a mystery niggle. In other news, Daniel Sturridge has been warming up for most of the first-half.

15:26 - Suarez is getting booed by the home fans now whenever he gets the ball. This is nothing he's not used to, but hardly fair from the boo-boys. Mirallas was lucky to get away with that.

15:23 - TWEET:

'Mirallas is a very, very lucky boy. Phil Dowd took forever to make that decision - and got it wrong.' -

@philmcnulty

15:21 - Yellow card to Mirallas.

15:20 - Suarez comes down hard after a nasty tackle from MIrallas. The Uruguyan is waving his hands around in despair. Ref Phil Dowd is having a think...

15:13 - Everton have had a couple of good moments, but Liverpool seem to have their defence in order now. Lukaku is beaten to a high ball by Skrtel, then Flanagan does well to beat the striker to a dangerous cross from Baines after some more excellent work in midfield by Barkley.

15:11 - TWEET:

'I agree with commentary, Suarez free kick was stunning, great bend on it. But Everton's wall was a bit flaky. Howard & co need to review it.' - @NeilGreigSoccer

15:09 - Everton get a corner after Mignolet produces a fine stop to palm out Barkley's low curler, struck viciously from the corner of the box.

15:05 - That was a superb free-kick from Suarez, bent it low around the right of the wall, sending it just inside the post. Howard is fuming. The Reds celebrate!

15:04 - Suarez puts the Reds ahead!

15:03 - GOAL!!!

15:01 - Fabulous keeping from Mignolet! Gerrard gives the ball way in his own half with a shamefully sloppy pass which Barkley snaps up, and plays into the path of Lukaku who's clean through on goal. Mignolet keeps his cool though and blocks the loose ball as Lukaku tries to get it past him. The striker fails to go around and goes to ground, but it was a excellent bit of goalkeeping and Liverpool breathe again.

14:54 - Mirallas gets in on the right and makes no mistake after another set-piece! This time it's Baines who swings in a free-kick from deep on the left. It's a superb cross which Skrtel should have cleared but doesn't and the ball drops nicely for the Belgian, who fires home from six yards or so for his first of the season. What a start! As predicted... it's heated stuff going on here. It's one all!

14:53 - Everton have equalised!

14:53 - GOAL!!!!

14:50 - Coutinho puts the Reds in front after Gerrard swung a corner in from the left, Suarez got a touch, and he had so many markers around him nobody was picking up Coutinho, who was free to control in the six yard box and poke the ball home.

14:50 - GOAL!!!!

14:49 - After a frantic opening few minutes, Pienaar lobs a ball infield up towards Barkley, who's beaten to it by Tim Howard.

14:47 - Everton look keen for this one early on here. Playing some high-tempo football at the moment, putting the Reds under pressure.

14:45 - Everton get this match going at Goodison Park. The 221st Merseyside derby is underway!

14:35 - Everton manager Roberto Martinez: "The Merseyside derby is a special fixture but it's important we play the game & not the event."

14:27 - Everton gaffer Roberto Martinez will be experiencing his first Merseyside derby, and has opted for Pienaar ahead of Mirallas. Otherwise there are no real surprises in the Everton line-up today.

14:25 - Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has decided to drop in-form striker Daniel Sturridge to the bench. Joe Allen has come in to beef up midfield it seems, which will probably see Henderson employed on the right flank to take on Baines and Pienaar.

14:07 - If past encounters between these two sides are anything to go by then we can expect a heated affair at Goodison Park this afternoon. There is no doubt that home-side Everton stand a good chance against 2nd-placed Liverpool in this clash that stirs passions like few others.

14:00 - Good day and welcome to Sport24's live commentary for what we hope will be an exciting clash as Everton take on Liverpool in the Barclays Premier League's Merseyside Derby.

12:30 - MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

Everton's only win in the last 13 Premier League Merseyside derbies was a 2-0 victory at Goodison Park in October 2010. Everton have lost seven of those 13 games and failed to score in eight. This fixture has produced the most red cards in Premier League history (20). Saturday's match will be the 221st Merseyside derby, and the 189th in the league. Liverpool lead by 87 wins to Everton's 66 in all competitions.

Everton

The Toffees are unbeaten in their 14 Premier League matches at Goodison Park in 2013 (W10, D4). It is 51 years since Everton last went an entire calendar year unbeaten at home in the league. They have not conceded a league goal for five hours and 30 minutes. Tim Howard will start his 272nd Premier League game for Everton, breaking the club record set by David Unsworth.

Liverpool

Liverpool are 11 points and as many places better off than at this stage of last season. This is their best start to a season in five years. They have won all seven league matches in which they opened the scoring. The Reds have scored an unrivalled 16 league goals in the first half of matches this season. If matches ended at half time, Liverpool would be five points clear at the top of the table.
