Cape Town - Southampton manager Ronald Koeman believes Ryan Bertrand is demonstrating the benefits of playing regularly, after joining the club on loan.
Southampton v QPR
The 25-year-old is currently enjoying his seventh loan spell away from Chelsea since joining the Blues as a teenager, with his progress at Stamford Bridge continually blocked by the recruitment of new players.
As a result, the full-back's play has suffered as he's struggled to get consistent game time.
However, having arrived at the Saints on a season-long loan, Bertrand is playing week in and week out, and according to his manager he is reaping the benefits.
"If you are a Chelsea player, that means you have good quality but he missed playing regular games," Koeman said following Southampton's 2-1 win over QPR, a game in which Bertrand got on the scoresheet.
"I like him as a player because he's an offensive left full-back.
"He has shown his qualities from the first day but I expected this kind of quality.
"All he needed was to play every weekend and now he's doing that it makes him stronger and more confident."
