Johannesburg - Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has revealed that he decided to sign centre-back Christophe Berra on a permanent basis rather than take Bongani Khumalo on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
According to the Soccer-Laduma website, the Bafana Bafana defender had been impressing on trial with the Championship side where he took part in friendly games against Crawley Town and Gillingham.
Khumalo is not likely to stay at parent club Tottenham Hotspur after failing to break into the starting XI and being sent on various loans, but the players has been looking to revive his career in English football.
