Hummels, Howedes have EPL quality - Ozil

Cape Town - Mesut Ozil says that the Premier League is the best in the world and has spoken up the qualities of two German players linked with a move to England.

According to the Guardian, Arsenal star Mesut Özil believes his German international teammates Mats Hummels and Benedikt Höwedes would be Premier League stars.

The German defenders have consistently been linked with a Premier League switch - Hummels to Manchester United and Höwedes to join Ozil at Arsenal.

“I would recommend any player to come to England." said Ozil before adding that he believes the Premier League is the best league in the world due to the number of quality teams challenging for the title.

Ozil then waded into the speculation linking his compatriots with a move to England. Ozil said: “Mats and Benedikt have the qualities to make a mark at a big club here – if they want to, and that is obviously up to the individual to decide.”

Hummels is reportedly pondering his Dortmund future after seven years at the club while Howedes has a buyout clause of €17.5m if it is activated before mid-June.
