Cape Town - Nick Powell could be handed a lifeline to get his fledgling career back on track as Hull City look to sign the midfielder.
The Mirror report that the versatile 20-year-old midfielder could join Hull City for the rest of the season.
Hull City have limited resources following a summer transfer spending frenzy, where the club spent a reported £40 million.
Since arriving from Crewe in 2012, Powell has had limited interaction with the United first team.
Powell, who cost the Red Devils £6 million, has spent time at Wigan Athletic and Leicester City.
There was even better news for Hull City manager, Steve Bruce, when he was handed a double injury boost as Nikica Jelavic and Abel Hernandez have both been declared fit.
Hull City open the English Premiership fixture list this weekend when Newcastle United visit the KC Stadium at 14:45.
