Cape Town - Mark Hughes has thrown Peter Crouch's future at Stoke in doubt when he weighed in on the speculation surrounding the player's future.
According to the Daily Mail, Harry Redknapp has not made contact with Stoke regarding the signing of Peter Crouch but may do so in Janaury.
Harry Redknapp is well known for signing players that he has previously coached but Stoke boss Mark Hughes says Redknapp has been quiet so far in his pursuit of Crouch.
The former England striker has played under Redknapp at Tottenham, Portsmouth and Southampton and reports in England link Crouch with a move to join his former mentor at QPR.
Hughes has confirmed that there has been no firm interest from QPR for Crouch but tellingly did not rule out Crouch departing his side.
"We are very happy to have Peter at the club, we didn't encourage any bids for our players." said Hughes.
"So if Harry did make a call it was not to me so it wouldn't have got very far."
"I have no idea no idea if they will revisit in January, possibly."
Stoke face a trip to Redknapp's QPR on Saturday, September 20 with both sides in desperate need of points.
Stoke City have just four points from their first four games while QPR have one less point and sit in 16th position in the English Premiership.
The match at Loftus Road will kick-off at 13:45.
