Hammers and QPR in stalemate

London - Joe Cole denied last-place Queens Park Rangers a vital Premier League win by grabbing West Ham's equaliser in a 1-1 draw Saturday, the former England winger's first goal since returning to his boyhood club.

France striker Loic Remy marked his QPR debut by scoring with his first shot in English football, putting his new team ahead after 14 minutes.

West Ham piled on the pressure and was rewarded when Cole — recently signed on a free transfer from Liverpool — tucked in a rebound after Carlton Cole was defied by one of Julio Cesar's many saves in the QPR goal.

QPR is four points adrift at the bottom of the standings, but Remy's goalscoring debut following his club-record move from Marseille will give the team hope of avoiding the drop.
