Giroud mad over overseas Gooners

Cape Town - Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud says the Gunners cannot wait to play in front of their “crazy” fans in Singapore.

The Gunners arrive in Asia on July 13 and play their first Barclays Asia Trophy game two days later, against a Singapore Select XI in the country’s national stadium.

Giroud missed last season’s trip to New York as he was on World Cup duty, and the France striker is relishing the chance to play in front of more overseas fans.

“It’s always a pleasure and a really good experience because you can see the fans are crazy all over the world,” the 28-year-old told Arsenal Player.

“They support the team until they die and they are fantastic.

“A proper fan has to learn all the Arsenal songs so it’s nice to hear them singing our songs and the way they are singing is even more surprising because they sing with their heart.

“I remember when we landed in Vietnam very early in the morning but there were 2,000 people who were waiting for us and cheering us on. It was a great feeling and it makes you want to produce even better performances when you get onto the pitch.”

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
