Giggs reveals United's transfer plans

Cape Town - Manchester United is set for a makeover after the club's assistant manager admitted the Manchester giants will be aiming to strengthen their 2015/16 squad.

According to the Independent, Manchester United will target signings to bolster the spine of their team ahead of the 2014/15 season.

Giggs made a few significant admissions a recent interview with the Sunday Times.

“If there are players available who are winners, who are proven then, yeah, let’s go and get them," Giggs said.

Giggs also revealed that, despite being on holiday, he has been discussing incoming transfers with fellow backroom staff member Albert Stuivenberg.

“On holiday I was still on the phone to Albert about players coming in and players for the new season.

The Manchester United legend then admitted that Louis van Gaal will be looking to "strengthen the spine all the way through."

That statement hints that the Red Devils will look to sign a goalkeeper, a centre-back, a midfielder and a striker in the current transfer window.

Jasper Cillessen and Hugo Lloris are expected to be pursued by Manchester United should David De Gea depart for Real Madrid this summer.

Manchester United have already had one bid rejected for Spanish international Sergio Ramos while betting has been suspended on a possible Morgan Schneiderlin (Southampton) to Old Trafford transfer.

Up front Harry Kane and Edinson Cavani are the leading candidates to take over from Robin Van Persie as the club's leading striker.
