Figueroa signs with Hull

London - Newly promoted English Premier League side Hull have signed Honduran international defender Maynor Figueroa on a free transfer, they said on Monday.

The left-back, who was a free agent after his contract at Wigan Athletic expired, joins the Tigers on a two-year deal, the club said on its web site hullcityafc.net.

The 30-year-old's arrival renews his association with Hull manager Steve Bruce, who first brought him to Britain when he was in charge of the Latics.

"I'm happy to be here and to be part of the club. It is a big challenge for me but it's certainly one I'm looking forward to," the player, who has been capped 95 times for Honduras, was quoted as saying.

Hull were promoted to the top flight after finishing second in last season's second-tier Championship.

Wigan in contrast were relegated after a disappointing season lifted only by a shock victory in the FA Cup final against 2011/12 league champions Manchester City.
