FA overturns Lampard's red

London - Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has had a red card overturned to avoid a three-game suspension.

Lampard was sent off in Chelsea's 2-0 loss against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, but the Blues appealed the decision by referee Mike Riley and the Football Association announced on Tuesday the red card had been rescinded.

Lampard is now free to play in Premier League games against Hull and Aston Villa with an FA Cup match with Watford in between.

Although I am big MU supporter, I feel the wrong has been reversed.

Jeff ... that is very big of a Man U supporter. Might have cost them the game and the title though. I, Arsenal fan, thought the decision was wrong. But that is soccer.5tuup

What is next? overturn penalty decision? red card a player on video evidence? The door is now open.

if they can overturn his red, then they should ban Bosingwa for kicking Benayoun in the back.

yip that was the correct decision coz whenever a soccer game is played a banner that say "my game is fair play" is carried out so yes i do feel that it is a fair decision.

I'm a Man U supporter - i think its a fair decision - Mike Riley got it wrong. but what about Bosingwa's karate kick?? (by the Way) i dont think Frank wears # 35 - that pic up there is of Juliano Belletti folks...come on News24.

Are refs favouring Fools now? Shouldnt Rafa weigh in and slam the ref for bad decisions and gifting the game to pool? Or does Rafas shopping list only pop up when ManU gets favourible decisions. The Lampard decision cost Chelski the game or at least a draw.

So why have a ref/linesman at all?

  • brad - 2009-02-04 14:49

i cant help but feel chelsea gets away with alot of stuff, im a MU fan, i cant believe bosingwa gets no action taken against him, but evra, with no video evidence, gets a 4 match ban based on what the chelsea groundsman says, thats bollocks .....

I agree with bob below. I am a liverpool supporter. I fully agree with the red card being resinded. BUT WHAT ABOUT BOSINGWA. Surely if the red card can be taken away, then why can't one be awarded ? Common FA, you are fooling nobody......
