Evans renews United contract

Manchester - Manchester United defender Jonny Evans has signed a new contract with the Premier League leaders through June 2016.

The 24-year-old Northern Ireland international has made 141 appearances for United since rising through the youth ranks.

Manager Alex Ferguson says Evans has become "an integral part of the first team squad. He has developed into a top player for us and has scored a couple of important goals this season too."
