'English Messi' linked with Reds move

Cape Town - Liverpool look to have beaten EPL trio Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal in the race to sign MK Dons Dele Alli

The Express report that Liverpool are the favourites to sign the player, dubbed the "English Messi".

The 18-year-old midfielder, who was one of the stars as MK Dons humbled Manchester United, has been linked with a number of English Premiership clubs despite recently signing a new deal with MK Dons.

Dons boss Karl Robinson hinted that Alli would be free to leave for the appropriate fee.

"It's inevitable that there will be a time when we will have to let him go, whether that be in January, next summer or whenever." said Robinson.

The club is expected to command a fee of £8 million for the transfer of Alli.
