EPL Players to Watch - Week 1

2015-08-06 12:47

Cape Town - Sport24 soccer expert Wade Pretorius looks at which Premier League players are going to shine and which players may not...

The greatest show on earth is back on Saturday as champions Chelsea look to defend their title but which of their stars are set to shine in the opening weekend?

Players to watch in week one:

Romelu Lukaku (Everton) gets my nod as my forward. Aguero and Costa are doubts, Benteke is playing away and Rooney is up against Spurs.

Eden Hazard (Chelsea) is my midfield selection. While Swansea City shouldn't be a push over, I'm tipping Hazard to get on the score sheet.

I'm backing Yaya Toure (Manchester City) to shine for City in their opening fixture. At home to West Bromwich, I'm tipping Toure to be among the goals.

Arsenal's Laurent Koscielny is my choice for my defensive option. The Gunners are at home to West Ham and should open their 2015/16 with a win and possibly a clean sheet too.

The fixtures:

Saturday: Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur, Norwich City v Crystal Palace, Everton v Watford, Leicester City v Sunderland, Bournemouth v Aston Villa, Chelsea v Swansea City

Sunday: Arsenal v West Ham United, Newcastle United v Southampton, Stoke City v Liverpool

Monday: West Bromwich Albion v Manchester City
