Cape Town - After starring for the Netherlands during the Soccer World Cup, Ron Vlaar will meet with his Aston Villa manager to decide on his future at the club.
Following interest from clubs across Europe, Ron Vlaar will meet with Paul Lambert this week as the Aston Villa boss seeks clarity on the player's future.
According to ITV.com, Juventus and Lazio lead the race for the Dutch defender's signature.
Vlaar has not returned to training following an extended break after the Soccer World Cup but with the season looming, Paul Lambert is desperate to keep a hold of his star defender.
Lambert is confident that he will convince Vlaar to continue playing with Villa.
"It was a good feeling I got from him," added Lambert, speaking to the Birmingham Mail.
"Ron's got another year still to go on his contract, it's not as if he's at the end of it.
"Once we get back I'll sit with him, we'll have a bit more time, but he loves it at Villa, that's well known."
Vlaar joined Aston Villa from Feyenoord in 2012 and has become the club captain after some impressive displays in the heart of the Villa defence.
