Drogba in line for Chelsea return

Cape Town - Didier Drogba is in line for a sensational return to the English Premiership with Chelsea looking to sign the striker. 

The Ivorian striker, once a crowd favourite at Chelsea, is reportedly set to be a offered playing role on a one-year-contract with the player staying on as a coach after his retirement. 

The Guardian is reporting that Drogba could be on his way to Stamford Bridge early next week.

Currently without a club, Drogba is keen to join up with former mentor Mourinho. Drogba is currently a free agent after his 18-month contract at Galatasaray came to an end at the conclusion of the Turkish Super Lig season.

Mourinho is looking to add his "special" touch to Chelsea’s attacking options.

Mourinho has signed Diego Costa in a mega-money deal and Demba Ba was sold to Besiktas.

Te futures of Romelu Lukaku and Fernando Torres are unclear as Mourinho looks to regain the a grip on the English Premiership after Manchester domination in recent times. 

Drogba won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups and the Champions League with Chelsea.

He scored 157 goals during his eight-year spell in south-west London.
