Di Maria out of Stoke clash

Cape Town - Manchester United will not be able to call upon Angel Di Maria for Tuesday's clash against Stoke City.

Angel di Maria limped off the field clutching his hamstring, a blow to United given his strong start to the game and the recent injury list that has plagued their season.

Van Gaal was forced to withdraw Di Maria just 14 minutes against Hull City. He was replaced by Ander Herrera, who turned in a fine performance against Steve Bruce's side.

United manager Louis van Gaal was quoted by the BBC as saying: "He shall be out at least on Tuesday. We have to wait to see. Maybe tomorrow we'll know more."

Di Maria joins Jonny Evans, Luke Shaw, Phil Jones, Rafael and Daley Blind on the sidelines.

There was some relief for the Red Devils after captain Wayne Rooney's calf injury and knee niggles were brushed off by van Gaal.

"After that he had a problem with his knee but I don't think that it is too much to worry about because he said that he should play." said the Dutch manager.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
