The BBC report that Manchester United have ended interest in Pedro to pursue a deal for Sadio Mane.
The British news agency report that "United made a bid for the 23-year-old last week, but Saints have denied receiving one."
The BBC also report that "Southampton have admitted Manchester United are interested" in a deal to sign Mane.
The Senegalese winger scored 10 goals in his debut season in the Premier League.
Mane joined Southampton from Red Bull Salzburg on deadline day last season in a deal worth £10 million.
The rising star entered the records books after scoring the league's fastest hat-trick against Aston Villa (2 minutes 56 seconds).
Manchester United are yet to replace Argentina star Angel Di Maria who left the club just a year after becoming the most expensive player in the league's history.
