Claasen Still With Everton

accreditation

Bafana Bafana midfielder, Daylon Claasen, is still training with English Premier League side Everton, although it has not been confirmed how long he will be at the club for.

The 23-year-old, who recently left Belgian club Lierse, is currently on the look out for a new club as he attempts to take the next big step in his career and it was recently revealed that he is training alongside his compatriot, Steven Pienaar, on Merseyside.

However, due to work permit regulations in the United Kingdom, it is still uncertain whether Claasen can sign for an English Premier League side, should they table an offer.

The rules state that, to gain a work permit, a player must come from a country that is ranked within FIFA’s top 70 and have played in at least 75% of in their national team’s games in the last two years.

Despite the fact that Claasen hasn’t hit the target percentage, the fact that he was unavailable for selection due to injury for so long could help his cause.

The Siya crew have been informed that, should the midfield man feature in Bafana’s next two World Cup qualifiers, against Central African Republic and Ethiopia in June, he could succeed in being granted a permit in the UK.

Claasen’s manager, Rob Moore, recently insisted that the player was only training with The Toffees and was not on trial. However, if they are impressed with what they see, and the midfielder meets the criteria for a work permit, the English club may look to sign him now that he is a free agent.
