Cape Town - A person familiar with the situation says Liverpool has reached an agreement with Manchester City over the transfer of England winger Raheem Sterling for £49 million.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss details of a deal that is yet to be completed.
City has had two previous bids for the 20-year-old Sterling turned down this offseason.
Sterling, who has a contract with Liverpool until 2017, said during last season he had rejected a new deal worth £100,000 a week.
Sterling is one of English soccer's top young players and an established member of the national team.
