Chelsea loans Romeu to Stuttgart

Stuttgart - Spanish midfielder Oriol Romeu has joined Bundesliga club Stuttgart on a one-year loan from Chelsea.

Coach Armin Veh said Monday that the 22-year-old Romeu "has collected some experience in two top European leagues despite his young age," and will help Stuttgart as it seeks to improve on last season's disappointing showing.

Stuttgart won the Bundesliga title under Veh in 2007. Veh returned to the club this summer following a season in which it went through three coaches and narrowly escaped relegation.

Chelsea loaned Romeu to Valencia last season.
