Cape Town - Former Newcastle midfielder Olivier Bernard believes Yohan Cabaye will be make in the English Premiership in January.
Bernard was writing his monthly column for theNewcastle Chronicle and admits he is not shocked by Cabaye's limited impact in France.
"The fact that Yohan Cabaye is out of favour at Paris Saint-Germain is no surprise to me." wrote Bernard.
Bernard believes Cabaye was fully aware of the competition he faced in getting into the starting lineup for PSG.
"It is awkward for Yohan but I think it was to be expected that he wasn’t going to start games out there. If he didn’t see how difficult it was going to be then I’m a bit surprised, because he is an intelligent guy who has had a very firm plan for his career.
That is why Bernard foresees an almost immediate return to England. Bernard wrote: "He will be back in England in January, absolutely no doubt. He will come back to the Premier League and he will already be looking for a club to join that will get him the games that he needs to guarantee him a place in the France squad."
"Will that be with Newcastle?" questioned the former Magpie before answering: "Well you can never rule anything out in football, but they will be very lucky to get him in January. If they do it will probably mean that there isn’t an offer from one of the clubs that is playing in the Champions League.
"He has a big decision to make in January – but I think it is absolutely inevitable that he will be back in England before long."
