Blackett set for 2400% pay hike

Cape Town - Manchester United are ready to offer England youth international Tyler Blackett a new deal at Old Trafford.

The Daily Mail report that 20-year-old defender Blackett has played his way into Louis van Gaal's good books and a new deal at the club is on it's way.

Blackett currently earns just £2 000-a-week despite being a first team member at the Red Devils.

With Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic both having left the club, along with work permit issues for Marcos Rojo and fitness battles for Luke Shaw and Jonny Evans have seen Blackett promoted to the first team this season.

Blackett has played six games for the first team so far this season.

Louis van Gaal has now reportedly asked the executives at Old Trafford to offer Blackett a deal that matches his position in the squad.

The Daily report that Blackett can soon expect to earn in the region of £50 000-a-week, meaning the young centre back will see his wages increased by a mammoth 2400%.
