Benteke calls for ruthless Reds

Cape Town - Liverpool striker Christian Benteke has called on his team-mates to kill games off and not allow late goals to diminish their hard work.

The Belgium striker told Liverpoolfc.com after the 1-1 draw against Southampton: "We are frustrated today because, with what we showed, we deserved the three points," before adding "[One goal] is never enough, you have to play until the whistle."

"We just let them get one chance and they scored.

"We showed some good things and now we just need to kill the game when we can.

"We are not far but I think it's time to take more points."

Liverpool host Premier League newcomers Bournemouth in League Cup round of 16 action on Wednesday night at Anfield.

The match kicks off at 21:45.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
